FIRE PIT- Contemporary Design (Gas Powered)

Just for kicks and to test out my design abilities, I decided to build a gas fire pit in the backyard.  The one you are looking at below is molded as part of the cement in the center of the patio.  Then I had the Sheet Metal Guy custom fabricate the stainless steel insert where the fire burner will sit.  The crushed glass is poured on top of the burners to hide the burner pipes and accent the fire pit.  The rectangular fire pit measures about 4feet wide x 6feet long x 1.5 feet high so it's a pretty big center piece.  You can use it as a fire pit or converted as a table.  As it sits, the side edges around the sheet metal pan measure about 1.5 Feet wide so there's plenty of room for guests to put drinks, kick up their legs or even a plate if they wanted to.  It's a very contemporary design that gives an "awe factor" to an otherwise traditional cement-slab patio.

Outdoor Gas Fire Pit (Sheet Metal Pan Top Fabrication)

So I had this great idea to build an outdoor gas fire pit; which really is not that difficult, per se, but it's turning out to be a little challenging because I wanted to push the envelope and make it part of the same mold as the concrete patio in the backyard.  Furthermore, I wanted to build in a remote starter with it and hook it right into the gas line of the house, so it's going to be a little more difficult.  I've had the concrete patio built for a little over 3 months.  Now, everytime guests come over, they always ask what the empty concrete cement pit in the middle of the patio is going to be.  When I tell them it's going to be a fire pit, they almost always look at me like I am crazy since it's difficult for me to explain the vision I have in my head to them.  Some have even suggested that the empty pit would be a great garbage can (actually a practical suggestion since there's really nothing there.

Well, I am tired of the explaining and the wait, so I am just going to finish up so everyone can see what the heck I am talking about.  The delay was partly due to the fact that the electrician/plumber I originally hired to do the electrical and the gas for the fire pit dropped the ball on me so I have to find another electrician/plumber that will be able to do it.

First, I have to have my Sheet Metal guy custom fabricate a stainless top to fit right on top where the H-Burner pipes and the broken glass will go to create the look of a nice fire pit.  I am hoping to make it look something like this:

Here's another picture and angle of what the fire pit will look like:

This Will be the H-Burner that will sit on top of the pan that I will be hooking up to the Gas Supply:
